Apollo 11 successfully landed Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Moon's Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969 - the first crewed lunar landing in human history. The Lunar Module Eagle returned the crew to lunar orbit, rejoining Michael Collins in the Command Module Columbia.

The mission returned 21.5 kg of lunar samples and ended with splashdown in the Pacific on July 24, 1969.
